Directing The Way Of Energy

"Lui lao hui soong.  Lut sao jik chung"

The practice of Indigenous Wing Chun is centred in Taoism, meaning that at the core is the study of the Yin & Yang principle which governs our approach and application of the forms.

Our goal is to master a high level of Martial Arts while managing and improving our health and wellbeing.  Wing Chun is known as ‘The Thinking Man's Art’, and practitioner Sifu Kofi strives to explore the principles and maxims of the style which shapes the training methodology of this system.

Through a well-structured syllabus you are guided through the Three Forms giving a practical understanding of the theory and their application.  At the end of each year students will receive certification so you can make steady progress through the syllabus.

Sifu Alvin Kofi

is a second-generation Wing Chun practitioner who benefited from his association with the first teachers from China that landed on the shores of the UK.  He also learned from some of the best teachers of Wing Chun who were based in London at the time.  Those teachers’ training methods were very much authentic in their expression and today is known as classical Wing Chun.

Much of Sifu Kofi’s training methods stems from Yip Man’s lineage, but his last teacher learned from Lok Yiu.  The order of teachers from whom he learned started with Simon Lao, Eddie Yeoh, Nino Bernardo and Michael Louison.  He then received instructions from the famous May Yat, training in his school in the US.   And lastly, Ng Chun Hong from Hong Kong (Nino Bernardo’s senior) shared his wisdom with Sifu Kofi and influenced much of his approach to Indigenous Wing Chun.

Outside the study of Wing Chun, Sifu Kofi studied Taoism and Chi Gong, which grounded his martial practice, and he has incorporated these into the Indigenous Wing Chun System.  He encourages his students to practice and embed the theory of the two systems into their thinking and lifestyle so they may gain a better understanding of their bodies and manage their health.

Life demands we move.
